History

Year 1918

Our company tradition reaches 1918 year. Then "Schaefer & Schael" Plant was build on the area of 4000 m2, manufacturing bearing alloys, tin-lead solders, printer`s alloys, bronzes.

Year 1945

Destruction of the plant during II world war operations.

Year 1946

Rebuilding of the Plant, new furnaces and presses installation. Production starts including 610 Mt of bearing alloys, tin-lead solders, foundry bronzes, refined lead, phosphor copper as well as bronze in form of shafts and sleeves.

Year 1947

The Plant is officially entered in the Industry Ministry`s Register of Enterprises.

Year 1951

The State Economic Planning Commission approves a project to expand the Plant production by extruded and drawn products of copper.

The Years 1950 - 1955

New production halls are set up, including electric foundry, new copper refinery, extrusion and drawing department for tubes, rods and wires. Modern facilities of dust extraction erection at shaft furnaces department.

 

Year 1952

The first extrusion press is launched and the plant starts producing hot processed products.

Year 1963

The plant is renamed to Metallurgical and Processing Plant of Non-Ferrous Metals "HUTMEN" (the name was obliged up to 1992).

The Years 1965 - 1967

Completely modernization of bearing alloys hall. Old furnaces are replaced by cast iron crucible system with carousel casting machines. Automatic drawing machines are installed in drawing plant; horizontal continuous casting line for bronze rods and sleeves is erected on casting plant.

The Years 1968 - 1972

The second stage of rebuilding. New production halls are established: extrusion & drawing department, vertical continuous casting plant, tool workshop.

The Years 1973 - 1987

Plant modernization, further productivity development and product quality increasing. An Electronic Data Processing Center starts up. After modernization finishing, company starts with export of modern products, especially to Sweden, Germany, Denmark, USA. The Years 1989 - 1991

Plant reorganization to increase cold processing capability.

Year 1992

2.03.1992 - Metallurgical and Processing Plant of Non-Ferrous Metals "HUTMEN" as State Enterprise is converted into a Joint -Stock Company wholly owned by the State Treasury and entered in the Trade Register.

Years 1992 - 1996

Modernization of copper installation tubes production line is carried and incessant improvement of process as well as modern monitoring and measuring systems ensure high quality of copper tubes.
Modification and increasing copper bus bars production as well as brass & bronze wires.
Modern pulsatory dust extraction plants are erected.
Capital expenditure for atmosphere air protection is 8 Million USD.

The Years 1997 - 2000

The first time HUTMEN S.A. is quoted at Warsaw Stock Exchange on the 5th of November 1997.
Quality Management System is implemented according to ISO 9002 in 1998. Modernization of metallurgical processing and highly converted product development is carried to increase its profitability. Top Blown Rotary Converter with hermetized process is installed to decrease polymetallic dust emission.
Restructurisation of the Company aimed at separation of independent production plants acting as profit centres.
Implementation of Integrated Management System IFS Applications, module "distribution and finances".

The Years 2001-2002

Implementation of new significant investment within the area of copper tube production, which allows production development, reduction of costs and entering the foreign markets. Implementation of the IFS Applications system, module "production management".
